will age out July 2020 * active, lively, very outgoing * 13 years old * has a great sense of humor

NEEDS
“..bilateral upper limb hemangioma and check/back hemangioma.  The hemangiomas have caused him to have enlarged hands, however he is able to use his hands to complete activities with minimal limitations.  Luis’s diagnosis does not limit him from engaging actively in all areas of life.”

EDUCATION
“Luis attends a Special School outside of his SWI 5 days a week.  He is said to be quite intelligent and able to understand concepts taught by his teachers.  He was recently taught subtraction at school, and was able to pick up the concepts and apply them very quickly.  He does have difficulty engaging in work that has no interest to him, and that can make learning that curriculum a bit more challenging.   He is making progress across all his learning goals.”

PERSONALITY
Luis has a great sense of humor and enjoys laughing with his ICC brothers and making others laugh!  He takes on his “big brother” role at home seriously, often acting as the leader of the other children or deciding what activity to do or play.  At lunch time, he takes charge of serving all the other children their food, and does so fairly and with care, ensuring everyone gets the appropriate amount of food.

DEVELOPMENT
“Luis has appropriate communication skills for his age, and is completely independent in all self care tasks.  He is also completely independent in mobility and gross motor skills.  He is adept at running, climbing and completing all gross motor skills he puts his mind to!  Luis does have a dominate personality and enjoys expressing his opinions.  He responds well to firm directions given by his carers.”

Luis can be found on the shared list. He will need a family willing to work quickly to adopt him.
