Jackson

From an advocate:
“I had the privilege of meeting this wonderful kid in September. All the kids I met had a piece of my heart, but Jackson was one that just stuck with me. I can’t stop thinking about him and how little time he has left. He stood out to me and moved me. I almost had to get up and leave the room because I felt like I was going to get emotional thinking about him losing out on his chance. I tear up now thinking of it. I just can’t let that happen. Please take the time to read about Jackson and share his post- he needs a miracle!”

13 year old Jackson is from a terrific orphanage that prepares their children very well for life and for a family. Jackson lived in the foster village, connected to the orphanage, for 4-5 years. From 2012 to present, he has lived outside the orphanage village in a grandparent like foster family. He attends public school and is in 6th grade.

His favorite subjects are: painting/art and Chinese.
He is learning some English and is at the top of that class:  He said “Chinese,” “pencil,” and counted for me in English. He has a best friend from the orphanage and his favorite foods are eggs and apples. He dislikes liver. He enjoys reading or painting the most when he has free time. He can play Chinese chess, but said not well. His favorite animal is a wolf and his favorite color is blue.

Jackson understands adoption and wants to be adopted. He said: “If my parents treat me well, I would love to.” He also told me that America is a country where you can have a great future and that he is not scared or worried. He commented that he would enjoy having siblings and is said to be very good with kids close in age to him. The orphanage staff described Jackson as kind, extroverted, calm/mild, friendly, helpful, creative, obedient, smiley, and a leader. He has completely normal mental abilities and is very smart. They noted many times that he does not watch tv/play computer games. He reads very well and can speak very well too. He understands everything and can answer questions very well. Jackson is a very mild mannered boy and does not get aggressive. He is independent in his care- dressing, showering, and eating. He prefers to use a spoon over chopsticks. He has very good fine motor skills.

Jackson’s listed special need is cerebral palsy and a brain anomaly with a question mark. I saw nothing that would indicate there are any issues with his brain- it was likely listed due to a CT scan that confirmed the cerebral palsy. The CP doesn’t affect him a whole lot- it is definitely more mild. It does affect his right side. He prefers to use his left hand and cannot run well due to his right leg. Because of this, he doesn’t like sports. He can run, but just slower than most. He can lift light things with his left hand, but not heavy things. To be honest, if you didn’t see him running, you’d likely never know he has cerebral palsy.

Jackson is a wonderful boy who would make a great son! I cannot say enough good things about him and pray his family will see him and get to him before it is too late! His adoption will need to be expedited due to the amount of time he has left.”
