and here is a written report on him from April 2016

“Charlie is a handsome young man with a dashing smile. This boy could be a model! Charlie turned 13 in China TODAY! This means Charlie is now URGENT, as he has one year for his family to find him and get to China before he ages out on his 14th birthday. ALL PLACING AGENCY FEES ARE WAIVED FOR CHARLIES’ ADOPTION WITH MAA! Charlie is in 5th grade at a public school and he enjoys math. He loves it so much that he aspires to be a math teacher! Like some other boys in the orphanage he has learned some sign language to communicate with a deaf friend. He seems to be the signing leader- you have to watch his videos, but especially the one of him with his friends. Charlie enjoys being active while playing games like badminton. When building relationships, he looks for helpful and honest friends. He is a super smart boy with excellent character.

Charlie is diagnosed with post-op/release of tethered cord, spinal cavity centesis, hard mask dermoid cyst excision, and post-op left cryptorchidism.

Here is a video from his March 2016 Update!

Here are two videos from May 2014 He was in need of a good update. Following are the questions I asked his orphanage, and their answers! I just know this update will help him find his family because he is such a handsome, sweet, and great boy.

In the video he said:

“Hello everyone. I am He Qi Jian. I am ten years old.” He’s attending third grade in (I can’t tell what school he’s saying). He also told what’s his favorite food, but I can’t tell. He said his favorite subject is maths. After school, I (he’s kind of thinking, after staff’s reminding “what do you like to do”, he said) I like to do schoolwork and read. The staff asked are you going to show a performance? What is it? He said it’s Taekwondo.

Does he know about adoption? Has he seen friends be adopted? How does he feel about being adopted?

Yes, he knows about adoption. There are several children around him have been adopted. He hopes he will be adopted by a foreign family. He is very envious of the children having the chance.

What are his favorite outdoor activities? Favorite indoor activities?

His favorite outdoor activity is playing with balls. Favorite indoor activity is playing computer games.

What grade is he in school? How is he doing in school? What are his best subjects?

He is attending public school out of the orphanage. He is in third grade. He is doing ok in school and his score is just so so. It’s all about the same, no specific one he’s good at.

What are his best qualities? What are his talents?

His best quality is responsible. When we go out having activities, he’s always the one who works to end picking up trash. In the orphanage he doesn’t show much, not found what special gift he has. He’s very general in every ways. He is a general boy.

Who are his favorite adults? Who are the friends he likes to be with? How does he treat children younger than himself?

His closest person is the nanny who took care of him. She loves him very much, but she just retired from work. His closest friend is a boy from his living group in the orphanage who also is attending same school with him. He treat younger children the same with all other kids, nothing special. But also because all the children in his group are about the same age, he is the younger one in the group.

Does he have a foster family or live in the CWI? If he has a foster family, how does he get along with them?

He’s living in the orphanage.

How does his special need affect his daily life?

Not at all.

Does he struggle with walking, running, or jumping?

No.

Developmentally is he on target cognitively, behaviorally, and physically? If not, where is he behind?

Developmentally he’s about same with his peers  cognitively and behaviorally. Physically, he’s a little behind. He’s skinny.

What is his personality like?

He is more like introverted. He gets along well with others. But he’s a very proud boy. If you hurt his feeling, he will get angry.
